Who I Met: Brody

Who I Met: Justin from my accounting class
Where: Business Building Computer Lab
My First Impression: Justin looks like your typical Affliction wearing guys that you love to hate.
What I Learned: Justin is not your typical Affliction wearing guy you love to hate. He's actually pretty damn cool. We were both in the computer lab studying for the upcoming accounting exam we had and he loaned me some of my notes and we helped each other on things we were have difficulty understanding. What really blew my mind about this guy though, is that he is taking 5 summer classes! FIVE! Kennesaw State doesn't recommend taking over two but this guy is making it happen with five summer classes. That's incredible.

June 14, 2009

I had not been looking forward to this day, Sunday, since I came up with this idea because, basically, I don't do anything on Sundays. Basically, I spend my Sundays lounging around my apartment reading and watching TV and I had a feeling I wasn't going to meet anybody today, and, well, I was right. Sorry to disappoint so early on in this whole grand plan. Maybe I'll do better on future Sundays.

Who I Met: McKenzie
Where: The guys' house
My First Impression: Looks like a cool, smart, independent chick.
What I Learned: This girl was awesome! Not only was she really sweet and capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation, but she also listens to one of my favorite bands, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, which not a lot of people have heard of which made me take an instant liking to her. I didn't get to spend too much time talking to her since one of my friends became infatuated with her and had her covered like an all pro cornerback, but the time I did get to have getting to know her was much appreciated and I'm looking forward to spending more time with her.

June 12, 2009

I decided to make day two a twofer (wow, twofer is an actual word, I'll have to look it up). A few of the guys and I went to the pool today and we met two spectacular ladies.

Who I Met: Brittany and Kimber
Where:
Colonial Grand Pool
My First Impression: Well, we had just gotten to the pool and it hadn't been ten minutes before I noticed these two BOMBSHELLS walk in.
What I Learned: After a few of us talked about going over to meet them, Noah and I waded across the pool and for a second I thought we were about to look like fools. About halfway there, the blond (Kimber) got out of the pool and walked to their chairs and I thought Brittany was about to follow. And how silly would we have looked? Two guys obviously wading across the pool to talk to these girls and then they deny us the chance to even get rejected? Turns out, Kimber was just getting up to get a drink and returned and we settled in nicely with them and struck up a conversation about music. These girls are amazing! We probably sat and talked with them for three hours or so and I liked them more and more each minute. Kimber and I even got engaged but I don't know how well that's going to work out...

The first day of meeting people and I have to say, I was really nervous. When I first came up with the idea, I thought "Oh, it won't be hard to just walk up to a random person and introduce myself." Well, I was wrong. I made it through the entire day without meeting anybody and thought I was going to fail on this experiment on the first day. Luckily, a few of my friends were playing open mic at Mellow Mushroom, and afterwords, a few people went to their house and I was fortunate to meet somebody there.

Who I Met: Kaitlyn (I hope this is how she spells her name)
Where: Ryan, Jeremy, Jake, and Noah's house
My First Impression: Really cute girl, a little bit younger than the rest of us, and a little shy.
What I Learned: Kaitlyn is a really amazing gal. My first impression of her being shy ended up being completely wrong and I realized that as I saw her jump into conversation with the rest of us for hours. She's pretty funny and was not afraid to tackle topics like politics or religion. She also wears a lot of peace sign jewelry. I also learned that when I'm meeting someone, specifically a girl, I shouldn't throw out "Oh hey, you're going to be on my website by the way!," until you've actually gotten to know them a little bit, otherwise they kind of give you a funny look...

The Story (Hopefully a continuing one)

So, I was done with the day and had resigned to my bed, and as I was laying there, I had an epiphany: each day, for the next 365 days, I am going to try to meet somebody new. Now, at the beginning of each semester I always tell myself I'm going to change my ways and start going out of my way to meet people, but I never do. I always end up sitting in class and never meeting any of the people around me so hopefully this will break me out of my social shell. Hope this works!!
